Stalker Soundtrack

stalker gif

Recently at our Medusa book club, we discussed the new TV series Stalker and it’s soundtrack which primarily consists of re-imagined 80’s hits performed in the creepiest way possible.

I thought that it might be fun to gather them all in the one place. Which it was, for I am all the contentment at a good bit of compiling lists.

Then I listened to it… and yup, CREEPY is the word!

*I’d have included a Spotify playlist but unfortunately most of the songs aren’t included on it.

Kathryn Tickell and the Side

Just out from a wonderful gig at the Howard Assembly Rooms in Leeds city centre where the main event was the fantastic Kathryn Tickell and the Side.

They didn’t play this one – though the mentioned it and I decided to look it up as it has vocals and I was very curious. Their set was incredible and I’ll be blogging about it later (on one blog or another).

Reed Diamond – Christmas Special the Second

Once again Culturally Fixated is joined by our Special Correspondent in LA to celebrate Christmas!!

Welcome back to the fabulous, the funny, the festive

REED DIAMOND

daniel whitehall gifWhat a chat!! We cover all sorts of everything – we dove straight in and began discussing Marvel, comics, Agents of SHIELD and Reed’s reunion with Jed Whedon, Mo Tancharoen and Dichen Lachman. From there – it was a hectic head first trip down the rabbit hole as we covered Rossum, Hydra, the spectrum of TV villains and the parallels of the fictional and real world.

Then onto Reed’s insanely busy 2014 – from Wayward Pines to the final season of Franklin and Bash, to working with Malcolm McDowell and his first foray in comedy (on TV anyway), then onto State of Affairs and back again.

REED DIAMOND

as Daniel Whitehall

All the while joined by Monkey (an actual magical monkey) and Donald (the inebriated and obscenely snobby elf). Daniel Whitehall – yup, heartless evil Nazi Hydra leader – even serenaded us with a chilling rendition of Jingle Bells.

Oh and I taught Reed how *not* to say Nollaig Shona (Merry Christmas in Irish).

***LANGUAGE***
We’ve very good. Practically not offensive at all.
***SPOILERS***
Agents of SHIELD. We ruin the living daylights out of the first half of the second season.
And the end part of the first.
Oh, we also assume that everyone is up to speed on Dollhouse and Much Ado About Nothing. Because why wouldn’t you be?

The Last Goodbye – Billy Boyd

Just out from the final Middle Earth film – The Hobbit – The Battle of Five Armies.

It’s been a long journey.

2 years since the first Hobbit film – An Unexpected Journey – was released in the cinema.

13 years since the Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring hit the big screen.

And 22 years since I was handed my first copy of a book written by J.R.R. Tolkien.

An one of those emotional types, I very much enjoyed The Last Goodbye – sung by Billy Boyd, perhaps better known as Peregrin Took (Pippin) from the LOTR film series – which played over the end credits of the film.

I hope you do too!

The Hanging Tree – Jennifer Lawrence

There are two versions of the song made popular during the recently released new Hunger Games (Mockingjay Part 01) film currently doing the rounds.

The Radio Edit – (which Hypable feels is off point [thanks to @not_johnstamos for the link]) – by James Newton Howard featuring the almost unfeasibly talented Jennifer Lawrence.  She acts. She dances. And now, she sings!!

I personally prefer the simpler version that was actually used in the mooovie. And the second I can find a link to it, I’ll post it!

The Hanging Tree

Lyrics by Suzanne Collins

Melody by the Lumineers

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man
They say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it seem
If we met up at midnight
In the hanging tree.

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out
For his love to flee.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it seem
If we met up at midnight
In the hanging tree.
